Pick up a reading log in the Youth Services Department from June 13–August 2.

BLOCK PARTY AT DISCOVERY SQUARE

Inside, outside, all around, The Art of Dr. Seuss is coming to town! Plan to attend a Block Party at Discovery Square (corner of Eastman and W. St. Andrews). Explore, experiment, and let your imagination take you to new places with free activities for kids, refreshments, and more.

While visiting, sign up for the Grace A. Dow Memorial Library Summer Reading program, visit The Art of Dr. Seuss: A Retrospective Exhibition at the Alden B. Dow Museum of Science & Art (admission required) and see The Art of Dr. Seuss Bronze Tribute Collection at the Dow Gardens (admission required). To add to the fun and make the day complete, wear a crazy hat on your head and silly socks on your feet.

Doug Sheer will dazzle you and make you laugh with his wild and kooky experiments. This show is a winner of Dow Chemical's Touch-Tech Award for excellence in science education. You'll think it's magic, but it's not. It's Wacky Science!

GO FOR THE GOLD MAGICAL LIBRARY SHOW

Jeff Wawrzaszek has combined his best material over the past 20 years to create a solid gold show that will charm all ages. Get ready for pure, imaginative magic, hilarious visual humor, and terrific audience interaction. Each child in attendance will receive an Olympic-themed magic trick.

This fun, interactive readers theatre performance will bring to life a mixture of great stories, including The Sneetches and Horton Hears a Who. The show is fast-paced with lots of humor and audience participation, and the performers' unique, creative style will spark your imagination.

Explore the science of Bubbleology with Bubbleman Ron Lloyd. See his astonishing huge, square, caterpillar, and merry-go-round bubbles. The Bubbleman will be looking for volunteers and will share his bubble-making secrets.

Are you a fan of The Warriors series by Erin Hunter? Join your fellow paws to become a full-fledged warrior and join one of the warrior clans. Your knowledge of the ancestors, hunting skills, and battle prowess will all be tested in a friendly all-clan contest. If you are successful, you will get to enjoy some fresh kill.
