Advisory Commissions
The City of Midland boards and commissions play an important role in advising
Midland City
Council on ways to maintain and improve our community. From Aviation to Zoning, serving on
a City of Midland board or commission is a great way to get more involved with your local
government. The term of each board and commission member is typically
three years. Appointments to these boards and commissions are made by the
City Council in the spring of each year.
Below is a document giving a brief description of the
City of Midland Council-appointed boards and commissions.

City of Midland Boards and Commissions Attendance Policy
In accord with Section 2-243 of the City’s Code of
Ordinances regarding regular attendance by members of boards
and commissions, the following attendance policy was adopted
by City Council on July 19, 2004, with an amendment
regarding attendance by Downtown Development Authority
members having been approved on September 12, 2005:
The position of a member of any board or commission
established by the Charter or the Code of Ordinances of the
city that meets more often than quarterly shall be
considered vacant if such member shall miss four (4)
consecutive, regular held meetings of the board or
commission. Notwithstanding the foregoing, the position of a
member of any board or commission established by the Charter
or the Code of Ordinances of the city shall be considered
vacant if such member shall miss more than twenty-five (25)
percent of regular meetings scheduled in any fiscal year.
The Downtown Development Authority is exempt from this
requirement.
If you have questions regarding this policy, please
contact the City staff liaison for the board or commission
for which you are applying or of which you are a member.
