CABLE ACCESS ADVISORY COMMISSION

I.             Call to Order:                                                                                                                                                                          Balwinski called meeting to order at 7p.m.

 

II.           Minutes:  February 13, 2012 approved as submitted.         

 

III.          Public  Comments: 

               No public comment

 

IV.          Old Business:

 

a.            CAAC Goals, 2012-13

               Quarterly receive report on status of Cable Communications Fund

               Quarterly receive report on activities of Friends of MCTV

               Quarterly receive report on status of video franchising laws and legislation

               Inform access users and public about challenges and opportunities facing MCTV

               Inform public about benefits of MCTV

               Participate in MCTV’s Honors Night 2012

 

b.           MCTV Fund

 

               See attached, MCTV should see an increase in workshop account following registration for our two summer camps. MCTV continues to advertise video on-line service

 

              

 

c.            Friends of MCTV

 

               Balance of $30,271. Formed in 2006 with two main purposes: 1) to help raise money for field equipment to be used by MCTV volunteers and 2) to help raise public awareness.

               Next meeting is Tuesday, June 11, 2013.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

                

 

d.           AT & T’s U-Verse

 

               Four encoders arrived last week, one for each channel. We will now work on accessories and timing so that all channels begin sending signal through AT&T U-Verse at the same time. Conservatively, we should be active by mid-June. MCTV will have a promotional effort including two banners along Eastman Ave.

 

 

 

 

V.           New Business –

 

a.      CAAC Vacancy

 

Scott Cochran’s term is up in June 2013.  He has been reappointed by City Council.

Bob Balwinski’s term is also up in June 2013. He has decided not to seek reappointment. This will be Bob’s last meeting. We thank him for his service. I am aware of one person that has applied for the at-large seat.

 

 

 

 

b.     Summer Video Camp

 

Began offering video camp in 2002 for kids 12-17. So far we have had approximately 185 campers that have attended MCTV Video Camp. This year the dates are: June 24-27 and August 5-8.

~Showcased video camp by showing videos of past camps.

 

 

 

 

   VI.       Announcements

                             

               Cochran: MPS Superintendent candidate interviews are being shown live on MPS 98 and YouTube.
