Fiscal Services Director, David Keenan, presented the preliminary –
prior to final audit adjustment, DDA Financial Statement for month ending June
30, 2010. Approved – Riecker/Ruhle
2011 Sculpture
Committee Chair, Cheryl Smith, reported on the outcome of the sculpture
auction. $12,025 was raised at the
auction, which was well attended. The
selected sculpture for 2011 is the Troll in celebration of the sculpture series’
10th year and to correspond with the 30th anniversary
celebration of the Tridge.
Horticulturist, Stephanie Szostak, reported on the process of fall
cleanup of the downtown. She reported that the smoking receptacles for
placement downtown have arrived and will be installed by the end of the
month. Stephanie shared plans for a
newly terraced garden area that will be built at the approach to the Tridge on
the Farmer’s Market side.
DDA Executive Director, Selina Tisdale, and City Assessor, Reid Duford,
presented information on the Shopping Area Redevelopment Act as the October
Board Informational.

WHEREAS, the Midland Downtown Development
Authority annually sets their meeting dates for the upcoming calendar year; and
WHEREAS, the DDA has traditionally met the second
Wednesday of each month at 3 p.m. in the Midland City Council Chambers; now
therefore
RESOLVED, that the Midland DDA will continue to
meet on the second Wednesday of each month at 3 p.m. in the Midland City
Council Chambers on the following dates during 2011:

WHEREAS the
Economic Sustainability Committee of the Downtown Development Authority has
reviewed the Incubator application submitted by Joann and Jeff Currier, Ways to
Wellness, 134 Ashman Street, and found all information acceptable and in order;
now therefore
RESOLVED, that
the Economic Sustainability Committee recommends that the Downtown Development
Authority grant the Currier’s Incubator request in the amount of $825/month for
the first six months of the program (November 2010 through April 2011);
$545/month for months 7 through 12 of the program (May 2011 through October
2011); and the maximum of $275/month for months 13 through 18 of the program
(November 2011 through April 2012); and
RESOLVED FURTHER,
that the amounts should be reviewed and adjusted, if necessary, to reflect any
lease amount changes when said lease is renewed upon its expiration on July 1,
2011.
