The DDA Board minutes from the October 13,
2010, meeting were approved as submitted.
Hayes/Luongo
DDA Executive Director, Selina Tisdale, presented the financial report
from October 2010. Financial report approved as submitted. Prior/Hayes
City Horticulturist, Stephanie Szostak, reported that her crews are wrapping up the fall maintenance of the flower beds and leaf collections. The smoking receptacles have been placed along Main Street and Ashman Street. The Horticulturalist report will be on hiatus until spring.
Planning and Community Development Director Keith Baker and City Assessor Reid Duford presented on the overlay district and possibilities for DDA boundary expansion as the DDA prepares to consider renewing the Shopping Area Redevelopment (SARA) assessment in 2011.
Committee Reports
- Executive Committee - Marty McGuire reported that the Executive Committee has been working on bringing back a draft of the DDA bylaws for board consideration and developing ideas for future board informational.
- Communications
Committee - Claudia
Wallin reported that the Communications Committee continues to work with
Creating Cool Committee to develop three 2011 event ideas and updates to
the downtownmidland.com website.
- Economic Sustainability
– Economic
Sustainability Committee did not meet in October but did meet as part of a
joint meeting with the Budget and Finance Committee to discuss the
Downtown District Capital Improvement Plan.
- MDBA Board – MDBA President, Patty Aspin,
reviewed the activities of the Midland Downtown Business Association.
No public comments were made.
New Business
It was recommended that a review of the recently-installed holiday decorations be conducted to repair non-working lights.
