Board of Directors Meeting

Board Members Present: Marty McGuire (Chair), Mike Hayes (Vice Chair), Dan Cline, Jon Lynch, Heidi McIvor, Bo Miller, Zach Prior, Doug Thompson, Claudia Wallin
Board Members Absent: Ranny Riecker
Staff Present: Stephanie Szostak, Selina Tisdale
Bo Miller noted that it should be included in the July minutes that Marty McGuire and Mike Hayes both acknowledged their affiliation with the Michigan Baseball Foundation prior to the vote on the Boundary Expansion item. The July DDA minutes were approved as amended. Hayes/Cline
DDA Executive Director Selina Tisdale, presented the Financial Report for the quarter ended June 30, 2011. Financial report was approved. Lynch/Miller
City Horticulturist Stephanie Szostak, reported that the downtown street tree lighting project was progressing and will hopefully be installed when annuals come out in late fall. She also announced plans for a bulb sale in the spring.
A proposed 2012 DDA Meeting Schedule was presented and adopted. Cline/Wallin
· Communications Committee – Wallin reviewed that the downtown brochure is in its final stages; new downtown banners have been put up and new banner designs being considered and; reported on special events coming up – the Montgomery Gentry Concert, Taste of Downtown and Midnight on Main.
· Economic Sustainability – Hayes reported that his committee has been working on an issue regarding the need for centralized refuse collection locations downtown; a kayak canoe launch rental business is being researched for the Farmers Market area and; reported on a new business opened downtown, Sheree's Alchemy.
· MDBA Board – Mary Shudark reported on - Sidewalk Sales, RiverDays, Music on Main, Rock the Tridge and Artists market, Farmers Market, Bark in the Park, Dog Days of Summer and upcoming Chili and Salsa Taste-Off
