Old/New Business

Status Report on the Amendments to the West Main Street Historic District Guidelines and Standards.

The acting secretary reported that the State Historical Preservation Office has not provided a response to the proposed amendments of the review process.   Randy will contact Jon Lynch about the possibility of starting a dialogue with the State.  We want to ensure they are clear that we are using the Secretary’s Standards as our criteria more closely now than before.

National Preservation Week

National Preservation Week was May 5-12, 2003.  The Commission was not interested in participating this year, but are still interested in pursuing this next year.  Sue MacKellar will contact the Historical Society about partnering with the HDC in this endeavor.

New Residents

Donna Gross suggested resuming the “hospitality” activities of the district.  There is a new family moving into the district.  If Mark Ostgarden will assemble the packet, Donna and Terri Applegate will deliver the welcome packet.  The HDC would like to be able to acquire the names of new people moving into the historic district from the deeds in the Assessor’s Office.

 Photo Album

Photos of some of the historic properties need to be updated.  The Maughon and Babcock properties have changed significantly and Donna’s house looks different from the back.

Expansion

The HDC held a discussion regarding the expansion of the district.  An informational  brochure will be created to distribute to property owners surrounding the district, indicating the advantages of living in a Historic District.  Once the district has been reaffirmed by City Council, there is some interest by property owners outside the district in becoming a part of the Historic District.

Adjourn

There was no further business and the meeting adjourned at 8:30 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Cheri Standfest

Acting Secretary
