REGULAR MEETING OF MARCH 2, 2004

MEMBERS PRESENT:           Peck, Zimmer-Janeczko, Rothhaar, Donovan, Berthiaume, Lincoln

 

MEMBERS ABSENT:             Robert, Lengerman (excused)

 

The meeting was called to order at 7:04 pm by Chairperson Bruce Peck.

 

The minutes of February 3 and February 19 were reviewed for approval.  A motion by Donovan seconded by Zimmer-Janeczko to receive the minutes of the regular meeting of February 3, 2004, and the special meeting of February 19, 2004.  Motion carried.

 

Call to Audience

 

Chairperson Peck issued a call to the audience.  There was no response.

 

Review 1998 Master Plan

 

McGuire presented a review of the goals and Capital Improvements Plan of the 1998 Master Plan and summarized progress made.

 

Chippewa Nature Center Update

 

Dick Touvel of the Chippewa Nature Center and consultant Pam Blough reviewed the plans for the trail from the Tridge to the Nature Center.  Touvel asked that the Commission recommend to the City Council that easements be granted on the City property over which the trail would be placed. 

 

Jim Brennen asked how road crossing could be handled.  Pam Blough reported that crossings would be handled with signage as they are on Pere Marquette Trail and they are considering signals at Patterson Road.

 

 

 

 

Project Update

 

St Charles softball field lights have been installed.  Fields will be used this season, except start date will depend on weather conditions and growth of grass outside of fields.

 

Civic Arena discussions with the architect are continuing.  We are working with the architect and Fast Ice to determine the exact program for the facility.
