MIDLAND PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION

REGULAR MEETING OF JUNE 2, 2009

MIDLAND CITY COUNCIL CHAMBERS

MEMBERS PRESENT:  Rothhaar, Altimore, Jurado, Martin, Berthiaume, Allen

 

MEMBERS ABSENT:   Kelley

 

Meeting was called to order by Chairperson John Rothhaar at 7:03 p.m.

 

Past Meeting Minutes Approval

Motioned by Jurado, seconded by Altimore to approve the minutes from the May 5, 2009 meeting. Motion passed 5-0.

Current Items/Updates

 

 

 

Old Business

 

Karen Murphy gave an update on the Dog Park. Bids to repair and relocate portions of the fence damaged by flooding will be received next week.

 

Commissioners were provided with organizational charts outlining staff members in Parks and Recreation. Martin asked where Parks and Recreation Commission fits into the organizational structure. Murphy responded that the Commission is advisory to City Council.

 

The Commission discussed whether to hold their July meeting as the meeting had been cancelled in previous years. Members agreed to meet in July.

 

New Business

 

Altimore acknowledged John Rothhaar’s last meeting on the Commission and thanked him for his leadership and commitment to the Commission.

 

The Commission will welcome three new members at the July meeting and nominate a new Chairperson.

 

Motioned by Altimore, seconded by Jurado to adjourn.  Motion passed 5-0.  Meeting adjourned at 7:28 p.m.
