MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION,

WHICH TOOK PLACE ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 11, 2003, 7:00 P.M.,

COUNCIL CHAMBERS, CITY HALL, MIDLAND, MICHIGAN

 

1. Roll Call

PRESENT: Baker, Dowling, Geisler, Kozakiewicz, Senesac, Svenson and Wieland

ABSENT: Max and Mead (excused)

OTHERS PRESENT: Jon Lynch, Assistant City Manager; Mark Ostgarden, City Planner; Cheri Standfest, Community Development Specialist; Sally Sutton, Zoning Board of Appeals Member and 8 others.

2. Approval of Minutes

It was moved by Wieland and supported by Svenson to approve the minutes of October 28th. The minutes were unanimously approved as presented.

 

3. Public Hearings

 

Site Plan No. 233 Consideration of site plan approval requested by Wal-Mart to construct

a 74,427 square foot expansion of an existing retail store at 910 Joe Mann Boulevard. [See

transcript]

5. Old Business

 

Zoning Ordinance Project update. Mr. Lynch distributed a revised draft of the pending zoning ordinance. It was noted that several changes to the language had been made based on public input received to date. After discussing the process for consideration of the ordinance the Commission elected to schedule a formal public hearing on the document on Tuesday, December 9, 2003. Staff will prepare several items for more detailed discussion during the November 25th meeting.
