City Council
Citizens Academy
Your City Government... Up Close &
Personal
The
Seventh Annual Annual Citizens Academy will be held January 16,
2013-March 20, 2013. This 10-week series of
sessions is designed to give participants a first-hand look at and in-depth understanding of how city government functions in Midland.
Patterned after Midland Police and Sheriff's departments' successful Citizens Police Academy, the
City of Midland Citizens Academy is a free program that explains the municipal services
offered through the City, how its governing process works, and how citizens can participate in that process.
During two-hour sessions, participants will learn about the responsibilities of City departments and the services they provide to the community.
Presentations and facility tours will give participants a better understanding of the role Midland city government plays in the quality of life that Midlanders enjoy.
Sessions will be held at various locations in the
city depending upon the topics being covered.
New this year, the academy will include one session devoted to Midland County government and the collaborative relationship between the
County and City of Midland.
