CONSIDERATION OF ADOPTING CONSENT AGENDA ITEMS:

            All resolutions marked with an asterisk are considered to be routine and will be enacted by one motion.  There will be no separate consideration of these items unless a Council member or citizen so requests during the discussion stage of the “Motion to adopt the Consent Agenda as indicated”.  If there is even a single request the item will be removed from the consent agenda without further motion and considered in its listed sequence in regular fashion.

 

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:

*          1.         Approve minutes of July 23 regular City Council meeting.  KOVACEVICH

 

PUBLIC HEARINGS:

            2.         Zoning Petition No. 479 – rezone property between Austin Street and Bay City Road west of Plumer Street, from Business C to Industrial A.  (Also see material sent in July 9 agenda packet.)  LYNCH

 

            3.         2001 Waldo Court Improvement:

                        a.         Hearing of Necessity.  (Also see material sent in July 23 agenda packet.)  MCMANUS

                        b.         Accepting special assessment roll and setting public hearing on the roll (8/27).  ELBERS

ORDINANCE AMENDMENTS:

            4.         Amendment to Section 17-1 of Article I of the Midland Code of Ordinances to change the number of members on the Parks and Recreation Commission from seven to nine:

                        a.         Second reading and adoption.  MCGUIRE

                        b.         Making appointments to the Commission.  DUSO

 

RESOLUTIONS:

            5.         Receiving and filing Police Department False Alarm Response Report.  ST. LOUIS

 

            6.         Receiving and filing Noise Ordinance Violation Enforcement Report.  BRANSON

 

            7.         Referring the matter of uniform notification standards for public hearing notification requirements to the Planning Commission for review and recommendation.  LYNCH

 

            8.         Accepting gifts from the Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow Foundation, the Rollin M. Gerstacker Foundation and the Charles J. Strosacker Foundation for the St. Charles Softball Complex.  MCGUIRE

 

            9.         Authorizing issuance of General Obligation Limited Tax Bonds, Series 2001, in the principal sum of not to exceed $6,000,000, for the Storm Water Retention Basin.  FISHER

 

*        10.         Appointing William Israel as officer delegate and Robert Fisher as alternate to the 2001 Municipal Employees Retirement System annual meeting.  FISHER

 

*        11.         Amending the City of Midland Police and Fire Pension Plan to provide that member contributions shall be treated as employer contributions in determining tax treatment under the U.S. Internal Revenue Code.  FISHER

 

*        12.         Authorizing execution of an agreement with the Somerset Pines Site Condominium Co-Owners Association outlining the Association’s responsibilities of operation and maintenance of a proposed private pressurized sanitary sewer system.  BUSH

 

*        13.         Setting the date of September 10, 2001, for a show cause hearing on the revocation of a liquor license held by Giovanni’s (B. B. Banucks).  DUSO

 

*        14.         Considering request from the Community Church of the Nazarene for amplified sound on August 26.  DUSO
