A special meeting of the City Council was held on Saturday, January 20, 2007, at 9:00 a.m. in the Council Chambers in City Hall. Mayor Johnson presided.

GOAL SETTING RETREAT
City Manager Jon Lynch gave a presentation on Ensuring Midland’s Greatness.
Director of Fiscal Services David Keenan presented an overview of the City’s finances.
Scott Walker, Executive Director of Midland Tomorrow, gave a presentation explaining the various programs provided by Midland Tomorrow and their status.
Sid Allen, President and CEO of Midland Area Chamber of Commerce, gave a presentation on the Service Sector Agreement between the City of Midland and the Midland Area Chamber of Commerce.
Arnold Weinfeld, Director of Public Policy and Federal Affairs for the Michigan Municipal League, gave a presentation on the value of public amenities in attracting younger people to locate in Michigan communities to stimulate the local and Michigan economy.
Council discussed the following three City Council goals:
1. Ensure economic sustainability.
2. Provide outstanding quality of life via excellent services and amenities.
3. Provide effective stewardship of community resources.
Being no further business the meeting adjourned at 3:05 p.m.
