Heard mid-year progress report on the City Safety Program.
Recognized Mark Athey and Kathy Young of the Grace A. Dow Memorial Library as recipients of the fourth annual City Manager’s Safety Leadership Award.
Held a public hearing and postponed action on the vacation of Eastman Avenue from the corner of Ripley and Ellsworth Streets to the corner of Larkin and Jerome Streets until October 9, 2000. (Yeas: Coppage, Currie, McKeag, Wazbinski Nays: None Abstained: Black)
Held a public hearing and postponed action on Zoning Petition No. 463 – rezoning property bounded by Eastman Avenue, Larkin and Ripley Streets from Office-Service 1 to Business B-2 until September 25, 2000. (Yeas: Coppage, Currie, McKeag, Wazbinski Nays: None Abstained: Black)
Held a public hearing and postponed action on Zoning Petition No. 462–rezoning property on the southeast corner of Washington Street and Eastlawn Drive from Office-Service 2 to Business B-2 until October 9, 2000.
Held a public hearing and approved Zoning Petition No. 466 – rezoning property on the east side of Chippewa River Road south of Isabella Street (M-20) from Business B-2 to Residential A-1.
Authorized execution of purchase agreements to purchase homes at 920 Madison and 1116 Currie Parkway.
Approved negotiated contract settlement between the City of Midland and the United Steelworkers of America Local 14009.
Authorized execution of the First Amendment to the Water Service Agreement between the City of Midland and Midland Township.
Recognized the Center for Independent Living of Mid-Michigan as a non-profit organization in the community.
Recommended approval of the request for Levi’s to transfer ownership of a Class C licensed business, located in escrow at 2929 S. Saginaw Road, with license to be held in escrow.
Established the 2001 City Council regular meeting dates.
Received and filed the Sanitary Sewer Improvements Basis of Design Report from Ayres, Lewis, Norris & May, Inc. authorizing the design engineer to proceed with the Final Design for the sewer improvements.
Directed the City Manager to issue a letter of support for the grant application to the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality, and contribute $7,500 to the local match requirement for the Sturgeon Creek Drainage Basin Project.
Authorized the City Manager to execute Change Order No. 3 to 2000 Miscellaneous Utility Extension; Contract No. 19, in the amount of $11,963.
Approved a time extension to November 1, 2000, for the construction of a sidewalk on the north side of Colorado Court.
Authorized execution of Michigan Department of Transportation Contract No. 00-5297 for the bituminous pavement overlay on the Highway US-10 Bridge over the Sturgeon Creek.
Authorized execution of a contract with Central Asphalt, Inc. of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, for the “2000 Wackerly Street Reconstruction; Contract No. 3”, in the amount of $328,559.25.
Authorized execution of a contract with the Michigan Department of Transportation for the purchase of two new buses for the Dial-A-Ride system in the amount of $131,489.
Authorized execution of a contract with Midland Contracting of Carrollton, Michigan, for the “2000 Midland Landfill Paving & Compost Pad; Contract No. 21”, in the amount of $218,650.
Approved the award of construction for seven CHOICE homes to Weckesser Builders in the amount of $505,900.
