MIDLAND CITY COUNCIL
A regular meeting of the City Council was held on Monday, January 29, 2001. Mayor Black presided with all Council members present.
Approved Site Plan No. 197, redevelopment of Eastlawn Center LC at Eastlawn Drive and S. Saginaw Road.
Approved Site Plan No. 198 for Whisper Ridge East north of North Saginaw Road and east of Russell Street.
Gave tentative approval to the Preliminary Plat of Bogel’s Urban Subdivision No. 2.
Approved request from Local 12075 of the United Steel Workers of America to use the public right-of-way on State Street, Washington Street, Bay City Road, Poseyville Road, Patrick Road and Eastlawn Drive.
Approved annexation of property on the east side of Dublin Road north of Airport Road from Larkin Township, through the joint resolution process.
Approved an amendment to the Hazard Mitigation Plan.
Approved Change Orders #003 through #007 in the total amount of $58,902 to the City’s contract with M.J.C. Golf, Inc.
Directed staff to implement a plan regarding non-ice shows at the Midland Civic Arena.
Approved resolution supporting the Midland County Road Commission project to provide for a north-south route over the Tittabawassee River west of Midland to connect Meridian Road with M-30.
Authorized purchase of administrative cars, police cruisers and light duty vehicles through the State of Michigan’s Extended Purchase Program in the total amount of $288,972.01.
Waived competitive bids and authorized purchase of a Niton XL-309 Dual Detector Spectrum Analyzer from Niton Corporation in the amount of $23,165.
Set a public hearing on February 19, 2001, at 7:00 p.m. to hear comments on Zoning Petition No. 471 – rezoning property on Lee Street (north of East Patrick Road, east of Clay Street, and west of the US-10 Expressway) from Residential A-3 to Residential A-4.
Set a public hearing on April 9, 2001, at 7:00 p.m. to hear comments on Zoning Petition No. 472 – rezoning property on the west side of Waldo Avenue south of Bay City Road from Residential A-4 to Business B-2.
Set a public hearing on February 19, 2001, at 7:00 p.m. to receive comments on Planned Unit Development No. 13, to be known as the Village at Joseph’s Run.
Set a public hearing on March 5, 2001, at 7:00 p.m. to hear comments and consider amending the boundary of the Downtown Development Authority District.
Mayor Black presented a report on the City Manager’s job performance review and Council adjusted his annual salary to $108,500, effective January 29, 2001.
Council Member Coppage presented a report on the City Attorney’s job performance review and Council adjusted his annual salary to $83,500, effective January 29, 2001.
