MIDLAND CITY COUNCIL
A regular meeting of the City Council was held on Monday, September 23, 2002. Mayor Black presided with all Council members present.
Proclaimed October 6-12, 2002 as Fire Prevention Week in the City of Midland.
Held a public hearing and approved the special assessment roll for the “2002 Commerce & Eastman Water Main Improvement Special Assessment District”.
Authorized execution of a contract with Rohde Brothers Excavating, Inc. of Saginaw, Michigan, for the “2002 Commerce & Eastman Water Mains; Contract No. 9”, in the amount of $114,900.
Held a public hearing and approved an amendment to the 2002-03 budget of the Service Center Rental Fund in the amount of $55,120.28 for the purchase of a new phone system.
Held a second reading and approved an ordinance adopting the Michigan Motor Vehicle Code and its future amendments.
Reappointed Karen Sherman as the Architect Representative to the West Main Street Historic District Commission for a term to expire June 30, 2005.
Reappointed Donna Gross and appointed Susan MacKellar as citizen-at-large representatives to the West Main Street Historic District for terms to expire June 30, 2005.
Received and filed the Cable Access Advisory Commission report on access channels.
Approved final extension of time to complete sidewalk in Stone Ridge North Subdivision.
Approved rental of hangar site 8b at Barstow Airport to Jeffrey Nielsen.
Established the 2003 regular meeting dates for the Midland City Council.
Authorized payment to GDS Associates, Inc. for engineering services related to the City’s defense in the MCV tax appeal to the Michigan Tax Tribunal for an increased amount not to exceed $60,000.
Authorized execution of a contract with Pyramid Paving Company of Essexville, Michigan, for the “2002 Love Street Reconstruction and Plymouth Park Paving; Contract No. 15”, in the amount of 78,949.40.
Authorized execution of a contract with Huckins Contracting of Beaverton, Michigan, for the ”2002 Perrine Sanitary Sewer and Water Main; Contract No. 21”, in the amount of $337,976.35.
Authorized purchase orders in an aggregate amount not to exceed $48,990 to Midland Engine, AIS Construction Equipment and William E. Lang, Inc. for equipment rental to complete the Sanitary Landfill – Cells 9-13 Leachate and Gas Collection System.
Authorized purchase of one articulated loader from AIS of Bridgeport, Michigan, in the net amount of $87,199.
Authorized purchase of one single axle low profile utility truck from Wieland Sales of Bay City, Michigan, in the amount of $71,536.
Set a public hearing for October 14, 2002, at 7:00 p.m. to receive comments on seven requests for Industrial Facilities Exemption Certificates from the Dow Chemical Company.
