MIDLAND CITY COUNCIL
A regular meeting of the City Council was held on Monday, March 24, 2003. Mayor Black presided with all Council members present.
Recognized the 25th Anniversary of the Matrix: Midland Festival.
Recognized Police Officer Sally Schmidt upon her selection as the 2002 Esther & Carl Gerstacker Law Enforcement Officer of the Year Award recipient.
Heard a presentation on the 2002 Michigan Association of Chiefs of Police Award for Excellence in Traffic Safety to Midland Police Department.
Received and filed the Five-Year Comprehensive Sewer Report.
Recognized the Midland Soccer Club as a non-profit organization for the purpose of obtaining a charitable gaming license.
Gave conceptual approval for a paved trail to be constructed from the tridge to the Chippewa Nature Center.
Received and filed the 2002 Saginaw-Midland Municipal Water Supply Corporation Annual Report.
Authorized payment to Miller, Canfield, Paddock & Stone for contracted legal services relating to the City’s intervention in the lawsuit against the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality in an amount not to exceed $25,000.
Approved Interlocal Agreement between the City of Midland and Bay Area Narcotics Enforcement Team.
Authorized issuance of purchase order to Bud Percha Painting, Inc. of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan for wall covering and trim painting at Washington Woods in the amount of $25,642.
Authorized issuance of purchase order to North American Communications Resource Inc. of Eagan, Minnesota for a telephone system at Washington Woods in the amount of $28,166.45.
Authorized issuance of purchase order to North American Communications Resource Inc. of Eagan, Minnesota for a telephone system at the Municipal Service Center in the amount of $56,681.75.
Authorized issuance of purchase order to Reid, Cool, Michalski, Inc. of Farmington Hills, Michigan for professional engineering services relating to the Northwest Commercial Area Traffic Study in the amount of $34,000.
Authorized execution of a contract with Pavement Maintenance Systems, Inc. of Imlay City, Michigan for the “2003 Surface Treatment Program; Contract No. 4”, in the amount of $208,167.75.
Set a public hearing of necessity on April 14, 2003, at 7:00 p.m. on the proposed 2003 Countryside & Green Sanitary Sewer Improvement project.
