OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS

MIDLAND CITY COUNCIL

 

A regular meeting of the City Council was held on Monday, February 9, 2004.  Mayor Black presided with all Councilmen present.

 

Proclaimed February 16-25, 2004, as Non-Violence Week in Midland.

 

Proclaimed February 21, 2004 as Walk for Warmth Day in Midland.

 

Received and filed the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report for the year ended June 30, 2003.

 

Approved Site Plan No. 235, Alpine Mobile Home Village Phase II.

 

Made the following Traffic Control Orders permanent:

         P-03-18     Parking shall be permitted on the north side of Wheeler Street from Birchwood Drive to Foster Road.

         S-03-11     Joseph Drive shall stop for Midfield Lane and Midfield Lane shall stop for Joseph Drive, thus making a three-way stop.

 

Approved budget transfer in the amount of $30,000 within the Landfill Fund budget for an increase in the solid waste surcharge increase imposed this year by the MDEQ.

 

Authorized issuance of purchase order to Keller, Thoma, Schwarze of Detroit, Michigan in an amount not to exceed $60,000 for labor relations services.

 

Authorized execution of an agreement with Siegal-Tuomaala of Farmington Hills, Michigan, to provide architectural services for the Civic Arena project, in the amount of $255,000.

 

Authorized issuance of purchase orders in the total amount of $166,607.08 to various vendors for the purchase of administrative cars, police patrol cars, and light duty trucks based on bids from the State of Michigan Extended Purchase Program and Oakland County Cooperative Purchase Program.

 

Set a public hearing for March 8, 2004, at 7:00 p.m. on Zoning Petition No. 505 – rezoning property at 1610 Bookness Street from Residential A-4 to Office Service 2.

 

Set a public hearing for February 23, 2004, at 7:00 p.m. on the proposed use of $11,923 Local Law Enforcement Block Grant funding.
