MIDLAND CITY COUNCIL
A regular meeting
of the City Council was held on Monday, January 10, 2005. Mayor Black presided with all Councilmen present.
Held public
hearing and approved an amendment to the 2004-05 Community Development Block
Grant budget.
Held public
hearing and approved an Industrial Facilities Exemption Certificate for The Dow
Chemical Company.
Received and filed
Downtown Development Authority’s Ashman Street Streetscape Report.
Directed the City
Manager to include $500,000 appropriation in the 2005-06 proposed budget for improvements to the Plymouth Park Pool and
adjoining building.
Received and filed
the Golf Course financial update.
Accepted donation
of property adjacent to the Midland Cemetery and a plat of the Whispering Pines
section of the cemetery.
Accepted Easement
Agreement for installation of sanitary sewer on the south side of Bay City Road
and the east side of proposed Fast Ice Drive.
Recommended
approval of the request from Pizza Hut to transfer location of a 2004 Class C
licensed business (in escrow) from 1516 N. Saginaw, to new building, same
address.
Officially
declared the Fourth Friday of April as Arbor Day.
Made the following
Traffic Control Orders permanent:
P-04-27 Parking shall be prohibited on both sides of
Jefferson Avenue form Wackerly Street to 200’ north of Broadhead Drive.
R-04-08 The speed limit
on Rockwell Drive between Ashman Street and Patrick Road shall be 50 m.p.h.
R-04-09 The speed limit
on Diamond Drive between Midfield Lane and Waldo Road shall be 45 m.p.h.
S-04-08 Ellsworth
Street shall stop for Rodd Street.
S-04-09 St. Charles
Street shall stop for Whitman Drive.
Authorized
execution of contract with Laplow Construction, LLC of Sanford, Michigan for
the full house rehabilitation at 113 W. St. Andrews Road, in the amount of
$32,835.
Approved change
orders to Diesel Fuel Purchase Orders by an aggregate amount not to exceed
$50,000 and authorized budget transfer in the amount of $30,000.
