of the City Council was held on Monday, May 8, 2006, at 7:00 p.m. Mayor Johnson presided with all Councilmen present.
Proclaimed May,
2006 as Foster Care Month in Midland.
Proclaimed May 20,
2006 as Midland Blooms Day in Midland.
Held public
hearing on the 2006-07 Proposed Budget and set public hearing on Monday, May
22, 2006, at 7:00 p.m. on said proposed budget.
Held public
hearing and determined the necessity for the 2006 Sidewalk Improvement Program
and directed the City Assessor to prepare an assessment roll.
Denied request for
a two year extension for the construction of sidewalks in Foster Woods
Subdivision. (Yeas: None

Myers, Rokosz)
Held public hearing
and approved Zoning Petition No. 528 – rezoning property at 4124 Waldo Avenue
from Residential A-4 to Residential B.

Held public
hearing and approved the 2006-07 Community Development Block Grant Budget.
Held public
hearing and approved an amendment to the 2005-06 Major Street Fund budget to
increase appropriations to fund unanticipated construction costs on the North
Saginaw Road Reconstruction Project.
Held first reading
of an ordinance to amend Section 4-22 of the Code of Ordinances to allow
helicopters to land on Midland Public Schools property.
Approved Site Plan
No. 251 – Bed, Bath & Beyond.
Accepted staff
report on applications received for current City of Midland Boards and
Commissions vacancies.
Supported planned
street improvements related to construction of a new baseball stadium and
committed to a minimum State grant local cost share for related improvements.
Authorized
Michigan Ice and its partner non-profit organizations to apply for a license to
sell beer at Michigan Ice home games.
Authorized
execution of contract with Sterling Excavation, Inc. of West Branch, Michigan
for the “2006 Local Street Reconstruction; Contract No. 5”, in the amount of
$232,967.05.
Set public hearing
for Monday, June 12, 2006, at 7:00 p.m. on Zoning Petition No. 530 – rezoning
property at 4203 East Ashman Street from Industrial A to Residential B.
