Approved levy of taxes for the July 2006 tax roll for special assessments and accounts receivable.
Authorized the
City Attorney to settle claims made against the City in an amount not to exceed
$5,000 per claim and authorized the City Attorney and City Manager to jointly
settle claims made against the City in an amount not to exceed $20,000 per
claim.
Accepted Sidewalk
Construction Agreements which allow the property owners to construct their own sidewalks
in the 2006 Sidewalk Improvement Program.
Received and filed
the 2005 Annual Drinking Water Quality Report.
Received and filed
the Gas to Energy Feasibility Study for the City of Midland Landfill Report
prepared by CTI & Associates.
Recommended
approval of the request from Decanters, LLC for a new Micro Brewer License to
be held in conjunction with their 2005 small wine maker license at 1804 W.
Wackerly Street.
Recommended
approval of the request from Pizza Sam, Inc. for new Outdoor Service, in
conjunction with their Class C licensed business with Dance-Entertainment
Permit, located at 102 W. Main Street.
Adopted the
Michigan Municipal Retirement System (MERS) Retiree Health Funding Vehicle for
the City of Midland’s Post Employment Health Care Benefits.
Dissolved the City
of Midland’s Post Employment Health Care Board of Trustees.
Authorized the City
of Midland staff to seek Local Bridge Program Funding for the Airport Road over
Sturgeon Creek Bridge.
Accepted License
Agreement for the installation and maintenance of the Grand Curve Trail on Dow
property.
Authorized
execution of contract with Sterling Excavation, Inc. of West Branch, Michigan
for the “2006 State Drain Storm Sewer Outlet Repairs; Contract No. 13”, in the
amount of $19,595.
Authorized
execution of contract with Eric Construction, Inc. of St. Charles, Michigan for
the “2006 Salzburg Water Main Replacement; Contract No. 11”, in the amount of
$87,265.20.
Authorized
execution of MDOT Contract No. 06-5179 for the reconstruction of a bike path
from Jefferson Avenue to Midland Mall.
Authorized
execution of MDOT Contract No. 2006-0399 for the rehabilitation of Runway 18/36
at Barstow Airport.
Authorized
execution of MDOT Contract No. FM 56-1-C37 with Pyramid Paving &
Contracting Co., Inc. for the rehabilitation of Runway 18/36 and adjacent
taxiway at Barstow Airport.
Authorized
execution of an amendment to the professional services agreement with Mead
& Hunt, Inc. relating to the rehabilitation of Runway 18/36 and parallel
taxiway at the Barstow Airport.
Authorized
issuance of purchase order to Carmeuse Lime of Pittsburgh, PA in the amount of
$155,388 to provide up to 1200 tons annually of Calcium Oxide for the Water
Treatment Plant.
Authorized
issuance of purchase order to PVS Technologies, Inc. of Detroit, Michigan in
the total aggregate amount of $148,910 for 250 tons each of Ferric Chloride for
the Water and Wastewater Treatment Plants.
Extended contract
with Brodart Co. in an amount not to exceed $325,000 for book ordering and book
processing services for the Grace A. Dow Memorial Library for fiscal year
2006-07 and issuance of necessary purchase orders.
Authorized payment
to Miller, Canfield, Paddock, and Stone, PLC for legal services relating to
dioxin and related issues in an amount not to exceed $600,000.
Authorized
issuance of purchase order to Turfgrass, Inc. of South Lyon, Michigan in the
amount of $90,000 and a second purchase order to Lesco, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio
in the amount of $30,000 for Currie Municipal Golf Course chemicals.
Authorized
purchase of portable synthetic ice rink from Florida Skating, Inc. for use in
the Downtown district in the amount of $36,700.
Accepted the “2006
Sidewalk Improvement Special Assessment District” special assessment roll and
set public hearing on said roll for July 10, 2006, at 7:00 p.m.
Set public hearing
on June 26, 2006, at 7:00 p.m. on Conditional Use Permit No. 21 – Cellular
Tower.
