OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS

MIDLAND CITY COUNCIL

 

A regular meeting of the City Council was held on Monday, November 6, 2006, at 7:00 p.m.  Mayor Johnson presided with all Councilmen present.

 

Councilmen present:

Thomas Adams, Bruce Johnson, Hollis McKeag, Joseph Rokosz

Councilmen absent:

James Myers

 

Recognized Fire Truck Operator Michael Hulbert as the 2006 Fire Fighter of the Year Award recipient.

 

Authorized Permit Parking Fee Increase for Uncovered Parking in the Downtown Area.

 

Accepted Water Main Easement Agreement from The Dow Chemical Company for the water main construction to the new Midland County Jail.

 

Accepted transfer of jurisdiction of Stark Road from Saginaw Road to 400’ north of Airport Road from the Midland County Road Commission to the City of Midland.

 

Made the following Traffic Control Orders permanent:

      P-06-18    Parking shall be prohibited on the north side of Eastlawn Drive for 50’ westerly of Bayliss.

      P-06-19    Parking shall be prohibited on the north side of Union Street, between Indian Street and Eastman Avenue.

      P-06-20    Parking shall be prohibited on the east side of Swede Avenue fro 180’ northerly from Wheeler Street.

      P-06-26    Parking shall be prohibited on the south side of Ellsworth Street from Rodd Street to 70 feet westerly of Rodd Street.

      S-06-05    The Intersection of Ann Street at Gordon Street shall be a four way stop, and Traffic Control Order S-89-08 be rescinded.

 

Approved request to place temporary directional signs in public right of way announcing the 2006 American Cup II Short Track Speed Skating Championships.

 

Approved request from Northwood University Athletic Department to install a banner over a City street.

 

Authorized issuance of purchase order to Shaw Environmental of Baton Rouge, Louisiana for Gas Vent Installation Services at the Landfill, in the amount of $40,748.

 

Authorized issuance of purchase order to Advanced Underground of Westland, Michigan for Flow Channel Rehabilitation at the Wastewater Treatment Plant, in the amount of $27,540.
