CITY COUNCIL
A regular meeting of the City Council was held on Monday, January 21,
2008, at 7:00 p.m. Mayor Johnson
presided with all Councilmen present.
Proclaimed February 2-10, 2008 as Dow Corning Tennis Classic Week in
Midland.
Held public hearing and approved Conditional Use Permit No. 28 – Nextel
Communications c/o Schnelz Wells, P.C.
Acknowledged donation of $15,000 from Midland Area
Community Foundation to bring the United States Olympic Softball Team to
Midland as part of their “Bound 4 Beijing” tour.
Accepted and ordered recorded a Warranty Deed for Fast Ice Drive from
Midland County.
Accepted and ordered recorded an Easement Agreement for utilities along
Fast Ice Drive from Midland County.
Accepted and ordered recorded an Easement Agreement for a sanitary sewer
from Midland County.
Approved two-year extension of time for completion
of sidewalk in City Forest Estates Subdivision No. 1. (Yeas:
Adams, Donker, McKeag, Rokosz Nays:
Johnson)
Approved two-year extension of time for completion
of sidewalk in City Forest Estates Subdivision No. 2.
Made the following Traffic Control Order permanent:
D-07-06 The intersection of Discovery Way with
Washington Street and Saginaw Road shall be controlled by traffic signal
operation and shall operate in full color mode from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. and
in flash mode from 11:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. daily.
Waived sealed bids and approved fuel purchase from Hirschman Oil for
$31,034.93 that was executed by the Purchasing Agent on January 9, 2008.

Authorized execution of contract with Robert C.
Brandmier, Level IV Contract Assessor for 2008 contractual professional
services.
Set a public hearing on Monday, February 11, 2008, at 7:00 p.m. on Conditional
Use Permit No. 27 – Bartow & King Engineers, Inc. for the addition of a drive-through
for an accessory restaurant use for a previously approved fitness center site
plan in a Regional Commercial zoning district at 601 E. Wackerly Street on 1.8
acres.
Set public hearing on Monday, February 25, 2008, at 7:00 p.m. to
consider revisions to the Zoning Ordinance No. 1585, adopted on November 8,
2004.
