OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS

MIDLAND CITY COUNCIL

 

A regular meeting of the City Council was held on Monday, September 15, at 7:00 p.m.  Mayor Pro Tem Adams presided.

 

Councilmen present:

Thomas Adams, Maureen Donker, Hollis McKeag, Joseph Rokosz

Councilmen absent:

Bruce Johnson

 

 

Proclaimed September 17-23, 2008 as Constitution Week in Midland.

 

Proclaimed October 5-11, 2008 as Fire Prevention Week in Midland.

 

Received and filed the presentation of the MidMichigan Innovation Center.

 

Held public hearing and approved Zoning Petition No. 553 – Rapanos Enterprises – rezoning property at 102 Fast Ice Drive from Agricultural and Regional Commercial to Limited Commercial, Manufacturing and Research (LCMR) zoning district.

 

Approved Site Plan No. 285 – Columbia Pipe & Supply.

 

Approved Site Plan No. 286 – Residence Inn.

 

Established the 2009 regular meeting dates for the Midland City Council.

 

Waived bid requirement and approved purchase of 12,501 gallons of diesel fuel from Hirschman Oil for $42,240.88 that was executed by the Purchasing Agent on September 4, 2008.

 

Authorized execution of contract with Sova & Sons Contracting, Inc. for the “2008 Goldenwood and Hedgewood Street Closures; Contract No. 13”, in the amended amount of $34,878.70.

 

Approved proposal and authorized issuance of purchase order to Mercury Associates, Inc. for a comprehensive review of the City’s fleet management and garage operations in the amount of $27,500.

 

Authorized increase in purchase orders for maintenance of the Golf Course to Foster Oil Company up to the amount of $40,300 and Turfgrass, Inc. up to the amount of $50,000.

 

Set public hearing for Monday, October 13, 2008, at 7:00 p.m. on the proposed amendment to the 2008-09 City budgets and financial working plans to provide funding for June 30, 2008 encumbrances.

 

Set public hearing for Monday, October 13, 2008, at 7:00 p.m. on the proposed amendment to the 2008-09 General Fund and Debt Service Fund budgets to recognize the 2008-09 debt service requirement for the 2008 Judgment Bonds.

 

Set public hearing for Monday, October 13, 2008, at 7:00 p.m. on the proposed amendment to the 2008-09 Downtown Development Authority fund budget for MVCC Limited Partnership tax appeal refund.
