OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS

MIDLAND CITY COUNCIL

 

A regular meeting of the City Council was held on Monday, March 9, 2009, at 7:00 p.m.  Mayor Johnson presided with all Councilmen present.

 

Adopted revisions to the City of Midland Zoning Ordinance No. 1585. 

 

Held public hearing and determined the necessity for the “2009 Sandow Area Sanitary Sewer Improvement Special Assessment District” and directed the City Assessor to prepare an assessment roll.

 

Accepted the 2009 Sandow Area Sanitary Sewer Improvement Special Assessment District Special Assessment Roll and set public hearing on said roll for March 23, 2009, at 7:00 p.m.

 

Held first reading of an ordinance amending Section 21-70 – Civic Arena Fees.

 

Held first reading of an ordinance amending Section 21-71 – Golf Course Fees.

 

Accepted an Easement Agreement for public water mains from Alpine Midland, LLC at the SpringHill Suites site on T. Moore Drive and Hotel Holdings Cinema, LLC at the Holiday Inn site on Cinema Drive.

 

Directed City Manager to prepare report for a Special Assessment District for the Shopping Area Redevelopment District.

 

Directed City Manager to prepare report on the 2009 Sidewalk Improvement Program.  (Yeas:  Adams, Donker, Johnson, McKeag   Nays: Rokosz)

 

Approved annexation of property located at 7412 N. Perrine Road from Larkin Township through the joint resolution process.

 

Approved revisions to the Park Rules and Regulations.

 

Authorized execution of cost agreements with the Michigan Department of Transportation for maintenance of State trunk line traffic signal controls.

 

Authorized issuance of purchase order to Helger Construction Co. of Midland, Michigan for masonry and drainage repairs to the Wastewater Treatment Plant’s Main Pump House: Phase I, in the amount of $50,800.

 

Authorized increase of $44,000 to existing purchase order to Stantec Consulting of Michigan to provide for the Wastewater Treatment Plant’s Concrete and Masonry Repairs Engineering; Phase II.

 

Set public hearing for Monday, April 13, 2009, at 7:00 p.m. on Zoning Petition No. 557 to rezone property at 6500 and 6501 Airport Road from Lincoln Township to Limited Commercial, Manufacturing and Research (LCMR) zoning district.

 

Set public hearing for Monday, April 13, 2009, at 7:00 p.m. on Zoning Petition No. 559 to rezone property at 8506 Sturgeon Avenue from Larkin Township zoning to Residential A-1 zoning district.

 

Set public hearing on Monday, April 13, 2009, at 7:00 p.m. on Zoning Petition No. 560 to rezone property at 4674 E. Wheeler Road from Midland Township to Agricultural zoning district.

 

Set public hearing on Monday, April 13, 2009, at 7:00 p.m. on Zoning Text Amendment No. 148A to increase the additional permitted uses by right to Article 22 – Limited Commercial, Manufacturing and Research (LCMR) zoning district.
