OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS

MIDLAND CITY COUNCIL

A regular meeting of the City Council was held on Monday, September 21, 2009, at 7:00 p.m. Mayor Johnson presided with all Councilmen present.

Proclaimed October 4-10, 2009 as Fire Prevention Week in Midland.

Held public hearing and approved vacation of walkway between 123 and 127 West Nelson Street and 128 and 202 Helen Street. (Yeas: Adams, Donker, Johnson, McKeag Nays: Rokosz)

Approved one-year time extension for a conditional use permit and site plan to allow a 3,494 square foot automobile filling station with a drive-up window in a Regional Commercial District at 6801 Jefferson Avenue on 1.8 acres.

Accepted Easement Agreement from B & L United, LLC for public water mains at the Bell Plaza site on Wackerly Street.

Authorized execution of revised Subrecipient Agreement with Cleveland Manor.

Established 2010 regular meeting dates for the Midland City Council.

Made Traffic Control Order S-09-06 permanent – Goldenwood Drive shall stop for Amberwood Court, and Traffic Control Order S-02-10 shall be rescinded.

Authorized issuance of purchase order to Fishbeck, Thompson, Carr & Huber of Grand Rapids, Michigan for Wastewater - Engineering Assistance for an Industrial Pretreatment Program, in an amount not to exceed $24,500.

Authorized execution of contract with John E. Green Company of Saginaw, Michigan for the Water Plant – Chemical Feed System Improvements, in the amount of $1,737,000.

Authorized increase to existing purchase order to Turfgrass, Inc. of South Lyon, Michigan, for golf course chemicals, in the amount of $20,000, bringing the total purchase order to $47,246.

Set public hearing for Monday, October 5, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. on the proposed 2009-10 Downtown Development Authority budget to appropriate $50,000 from “fund balance” to “retail incubator program”.
