OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS

MIDLAND CITY COUNCIL

 

A regular meeting of the City Council was held on Monday, March 14, 2011, at 7:00 p.m.  Mayor Donker presided.

 

Councilmen present:

Thomas Adams, J. D. Brooks, Maureen Donker, Bruce Johnson

Councilmen absent:

Marty Wazbinski

 

Directed City Manager to prepare report on the 2011 Sidewalk Improvement Program.

 

Directed City Manager to prepare a report for a Special Assessment District for the Shopping Area Redevelopment District (SARA).

 

Received and filed the 2010 Saginaw-Midland Municipal Water Supply Corporation Annual Report.

 

Named City Manager as Transportation Coordinator and stated City’s intentions to provide public transportation services and apply for Federal and State Financial Assistance.

 

Recognized Saginaw Valley GLBT Group (DBA Perceptions Saginaw Valley) as a non-profit organization for the purpose of registering with the Charitable Gaming Division of the Michigan Lottery.

 

Approved request to host Michigan Jazz Trail Festival on June 25, 2011.

 

Approved request from SOS Animal Rescue to hold a geocaching fundraising event on July 23, 2011 at City Forest and charge an entry fee.

 

Recommended approval of request from MVCC Limited Partnership to transfer interest in a Resort B-Hotel Licensed Business with Dance-Entertainment Permit, located at 111 W. Main.

 

Authorized execution of contract with Thermico, Inc. of Midland, Michigan for the “2011 Tridge Staining; Bid No. 3312”, in the amount of $48,880.

 

Authorized execution of contract with Central Asphalt, Inc. of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan for the “2011 Joe Mann Boulevard Reconstruction; Contract No. 1”, in the amount of $218,621.75.

 

Authorized execution of contract with P.K. Contracting of Lake City, Michigan for the “2011 Pavement Marking Program; Contract No. 16”, in the amount of $44,545.
