CITY COUNCIL
A regular meeting of the City Council was held on Monday, March 25, 2013,
at 7:00 p.m. Mayor Donker presided with all Councilmen present.
Proclaimed April 26, 2013 as Arbor Day in Midland.
Approved the Final Plat of Trotter’s Pointe – a
residential subdivision of 19 lots located east of Congress Drive on the south
side of East Wheeler Street.
Denied approval of Site Plan No. 314 – Twilight
Motel. (Yeas: None
Nays: Adams, Brooks, Brown
Wilhelm, Donker, Wazbinski)
Accepted three new street segments into the City of
Midland Local Street System as required by the Michigan Department of
Transportation for Act 51 funding.
Reappointed
incumbents to various boards and commissions.
Approved extension of Agreement Creating the
Midland County Central Dispatch Authority through December 31, 2013.
Accepted resignation of Suzanne Phillips from the
Grace A. Dow Memorial Library Board.
Authorized execution of contract with Malley Construction, Inc. of Mt.
Pleasant, Michigan for the “2013 Wackerly Water Main Replacement and Jefferson
Avenue Widening, Contract No. 13”, in the amount of $542,687.34.
Authorized issuance of purchase order to MJ
Mechanical of St. Charles, Michigan for the Municipal Service Center Rooftop
Air Handler Replacement, in the amount of $69,200.
Authorized issuance of purchase order to Miracle
Midwest of Okemos, Michigan for Neighborhood Parks Playground Equipment, in the
amount of $96,468.
Authorized issuance of purchase order to Lawns and
Mower LLC of Midland, Michigan in the amount of $12,000 for the remainder of
fiscal year 2012-13 for park mowing services and an additional purchase order
in the amount of $30,000 for the months of July through October 2013.
Authorized issuance of purchase order to Johnson
Controls of Saginaw, Michigan for the purchase of a chiller for the Grace A.
Dow Memorial Library, in the amount of $80,330.
Authorized issuance of purchase order to SPX
Cooling Technologies from Orion, Michigan for the purchase of a cooling tower
for the Grace A. Dow Memorial Library, in the amount of $22,500.
Set public hearing for Monday, April 29, 2013, at 7:00 p.m. on Zoning
Petition No. 584 – rezoning property located at 400/410 North Saginaw Road from
Residential A-1 single-family residential district to Residential B
multiple-family district zoning.
Directed City Manager to prepare a report on the renewal of the Shopping
Area Redevelopment Act (SARA) assessment for the Downtown Midland District and
set a public hearing of necessity for Monday, April 8, 2013, at 7:00 p.m. on
said SARA assessment
