Heavy Item and Brush Disposal
When to set out your items: Heavy items and brush are collected
from residential properties once per month. Items can be placed at the curb on the Saturday preceding
a resident's scheduled collection Monday. Items should be at the curb by 7:30 a.m.
on the Monday of your area's scheduled collection week. If you do not know your collection
Monday, check out the City's collection schedule by street by clicking on the
Collection Schedules link at left.
Items Collected

Boxes of any size, including moving boxes
- Appliances (remove covers and doors). NOTE: Appliances are
also collected weekly on a call-in basis, 989-837-6900

Furniture, mattresses & carpeting (less than 8 feet in length)

Scrap metal
-
Demolition, remodeling and
building materials (for established Midland residences only)
- Asphalt, concrete & other masonry rubble
-
Logs, cut branches, tree trimmings & brush
(Less than 8 feet in length. Leave 1 foot of space between
piles. For established Midland residences only. No service for land
clearing.)

Whole boxes & corrugated cardboard
larger than 3 ft. x 3 ft. (boxes can be recycled if less than or cut
to less than 3 ft. x 3 ft.)

How to Prepare Your Items for Collection

Put household items and brush into clearly separated piles
-
Avoid placing items near poles, trees, hydrants, mailboxes, wires and other
obstacles

Remove covers and doors from all appliances

Flatten boxes and
corrugated cardboard (place these items with recycling if under 3' x 3'
in size)

All items, brush and brush piles must be less than 8 feet in length. Leave 1 foot of space between piles.

Containers put out for Heavy Item collection will be disposed of along with their contents.

Place items on the outlawn at the curb. Do not place items in the street.
Disposing of Cardboard & Boxes

Boxes are not to be used as
containers for refuse or debris
- Whole boxes and large cardboard (larger than 3' x 3') are collected monthly with your heavy item collection
only
- Cardboard and boxes of any size can
be dropped off at the
Midland
Recyclers. Call 989-631-1668 for info.
