Place recycling at the curb by 7:30 a.m. on your collection day and no sooner than 6 p.m. on the day before collection.
Changes to the Curbside Recycling Program
In early August 2010, the City of Midland began
a fully automated, single stream recycling program for residents.
This program allows for a wider variety of recyclables that can be
collected at the curb. See below for an expanded list of acceptable collectibles.
Republic Waste Services, the City’s contracted service provider for recycling collection,
has provided each resident with a brown,
95-gallon cart. These carts are owned by Republic. Please note that the brown
95-gallon carts may only be used for recycling.
The new carts were delivered to Midland households in late July/early August. If you did not receive your cart, please contact DPS at
989-837-6900.
If a resident moves from their current address, the cart should remain at the initial delivery location.
After October 1, 2010, residents will be provided with the option to make a
one-time only exchange of their 95-gallon cart for a
smaller, 65-gallon cart. Call DPS at 989-837-6900 with any questions.
If you would like one or more additional brown carts, they
are available for lease through Republic Waste Services at a cost of $36.00 per
year. For more information on leasing additional brown carts, contact DPS at 989-837-6900.
Additional information and refrigerator magnets noting the recycling collection schedule
have been included with the cart.
Items to be Collected
Click below for a downloadable list of items that will - and will NOT - be collected curbside.
*SPECIAL NOTE: Currently, brown and green colored glass are not accepted in the City's recycling program as there is no resale market for these items. If this changes in the future,
Midland citizens will be notified.
Proper Use of Your New Cart

plus your green, 14-gallon bins.
