- Yard Waste Collection
- Spring 2013
Due to recent flooding, the three-week period of yard waste collection without the required stickers
has been extended to Friday, May 3. Click here for regular updates.
Yard waste is collected weekly with household
refuse,
Monday through Friday, from April-December, depending on weather conditions.
Place yard waste and refuse side by side at the curb by 7:30 a.m. on your
collection day and no sooner than 6 p.m. on the day before collection.
A comprehensive list of what is and is not acceptable as yard waste can be found below.
How is Yard Waste Collected
Yard waste is collected in two ways: in compost bags and/or yard waste bins.
KRAFT PAPER COMPOST BAGS: 30-gallon compost bags may be purchased directly from local retailers
that carry lawn and garden accessories. Bags have a 50 lb. weight limit. Yard waste stickers are required for
each kraft paper compost bag of yard waste set out to be collected. Yard
waste stickers cost 35 cents per bag, and can be purchased at local lawn and
garden retailers.
YARD WASTE BIN: 95-gallon, wheeled yard waste bins may be purchased from the City for $65
each. Yard waste bin users must pay a $35 annual collection fee,
which covers the cost of one (1)
yard waste bin. If more bins are used, there will be an additional
annual collection fee of
$15 for each additional bin. Read
the
Yard Waste Bin Collection Renewal section below
for more information about collection fees.

Yard Waste Bin Collection Renewal and
Fee
$35 YARD WASTE COLLECTION - SERVICE RENEWAL FEE: A $35 annual
service fee renews collection services for one (1) yard waste bin from April
to November of each year. The fee for additional bins at the same address is
$15 per bin (example: 2 bins = $50; 3 bins = $65, etc.)
Each year in the spring, a renewal form is sent to all registered yard bin
owners requesting the annual $35 fee be sent to the Department of Public Services along
with any changes to incorrect information, such as name, address, or numbers on
your yard waste bin(s). A return payment date is indicated on the renewal form.
Once payment is received, a yard waste collection sticker for each yard waste bin is mailed.
Collection stickers must be placed on your yard waste bin to receive collection services during that calendar year.
KRAFT PAPER COMPOST BAG FEE: Kraft paper compost bags may be set at
the curb with or without a yard waste bin. To ensure collection, a 35-cent sticker
must be attached to each bag. Compost bags and their 35-cent collection stickers may be purchased at local lawn and garden retailers.
Please note: March 2010: Midland residents who still have 25-cent paper compost bag stickers may use
these until their supply is depleted.
RENEWAL FORM: If you wish to pay the annual fee(s) for your yard waste bin(s)
for this calendar year, fill out the interactive PDF form below and return it to the City
Treasurer's Office.
If including a check with the renewal form, make it payable to "City of
Midland". Forms and payments may be returned to the following address:
