Yard Waste Collection
Yard waste is collected weekly with household
refuse,
Monday through Friday, from April-December, depending on weather conditions.
Place yard waste and refuse side by side at the curb by 8 a.m. on your
collection day and no sooner than 6 p.m. on the day before collection.
How is Yard Waste Collected
Yard waste is collected in two ways: in compost bags and/or yard waste bins.
-
30-gallon kraft paper compost bags are purchased directly from local retailers
that carry lawn and garden accessories. Bags have a 50 lb. weight limit. Yard waste stickers are required for
each kraft paper compost bag of yard waste set out to be collected. Yard
waste stickers cost $0.25 per bag, and can be purchased at local lawn and
garden retailers. (EXCEPTION: if the annual $25 yard waste collection
fee has been paid, no stickers are required on compost bags.)
-
95-gallon, wheeled yard waste bins may be purchased from the City for $50
each. In addition, yard waste bin users must pay a $25 annual collection fee,
which covers all
yard waste bins and any extra kraft bags that are placed at the curb with the bin. Read
Yard Waste Bin Collection Renewal below
for more information about the $25 annual collection fee.

Yard Waste Bin Collection Renewal and
Fee
$25 YARD WASTE COLLECTION - SERVICE RENEWAL FEE: A $25 annual service fee renews collection
from your yard waste bin(s) from
April to November of each year. The fee covers collection service for all City
yard waste bins (one or more) and kraft paper bags used with a yard waste
bin. If the kraft paper bags are used along with the bin, the 25-cent sticker
requirement is waived. However, if you use the bags without the bin,
you must apply a 25-cent sticker to each bag. The stickers, along with kraft
paper compost bags, can be purchased at area lawn and garden retailers.
Each year in the spring, a renewal form is sent to all registered yard bin
owners requesting the annual $25 fee be sent to the Department of Public Services along
with any changes to incorrect information, such as name, address, or numbers on
yard waste bin(s). A return payment date is indicated on the renewal form.
Once
payment is received, a yard waste collection sticker for each yard waste bin in
your possession is mailed within a two-week period.
Stickers must be placed on
yard waste bin(s) to receive collection services during that calendar year.
RENEWAL FORM: If you did not pay the $25 annual fee for yard waste bin collection services
for this calendar year or you have changes to your name, address, or bin
number(s), fill out the interactive PDF form below and return it to the City
Treasurer's Office.
If including a check with the renewal form, make it payable to "City of
Midland". Forms and payments may be returned to the following address:
