Picnicking
With more than
72 city parks in Midland, the places to picnic are endless. You can find picnic
tables in most city parks, and several parks provide park shelters and
pavilions, grilling facilities and other amenities. Shelters are reservable
from April to November 15 of each year. In
addition, the City Forest Chalet may be rented from April to November.
Picnic Shelters
Non-refundable reservation fees for the 2008 season at the following
parks will be charged as listed below. These fees help fund park maintenance
and equipment.

Exceptions to picnic shelter reservation fees
are as follows:
a)
Donors
of shelters shall be allowed one rent free use per year in the respective
donated structure.
b)
Daytime
reservations that begin after 8:00 am and end before 3:00 pm,
Monday – Friday in May and June are exempt from fees.
Picnic Kits: Add to your picnic outing by reserving a
picnic kit from the Midland Parks and Recreation Department. Kits include a
volleyball and net, rubber horseshoes and posts, a Frisbee, Nerf football and a
whiffle ball and bat. All kits require a $15 refundable deposit. Call the Parks
and Recreation Department at 837-6930 for more information.
City Forest Chalet
The Chalet at City Forest is available for
rent from April to November for all types of occasions. The Chalet Building is
rented for a two-hour minimum, at $30 per hour; $20 for each additional hour
after the first two hours.
