Tennis in Midland

“Play Tennis in Midland!” is a cooperative effort of the Midland Parks and Recreation Department and the Midland Community Tennis Center. Two sessions were held during the summer of 2008; these sessions are now complete.

 

As spring 2009 approaches, stay tuned to this site for news about the summer 2009 program.

All classes are a maximum of 10 to 1 instructor ratio (except Little Kids Tennis).  Equipment (racquets & tennis balls) will be provided, but participants must wear tennis shoes.  All classes will be taught at the Midland Community Tennis Center.

 

Little Kids Tennis:  Ages 4 – 7

 

A fun class emphasizing basic skills and hand/eye coordination.  Instructor ratio is 6 players to 1 teacher.  Your child must meet the age requirements by the starting date of the program.

 

Juniors:  Ages 8 – 14

 

This program is designed for players ages 8–14 who want to learn how to play the great game of tennis.  Players will learn basics of the game:  forehand, backhand, serve, volley, scoring, games, and FUN.

 

Junior Workout:  Ages 13 – 17

 

This program is for older players who want to prepare for their upcoming intermediate and high school seasons.  Emphasis will be on stroke development and doubles/singles strategy.

 

Play Tennis Fast Midland – Play Tennis Fast 1

 

This program is for adults new to the game of tennis.  Emphasis will be to learn all the essential strokes including forehand, backhand, volley and serve.  Price includes your own tennis racquet to keep.

 

Play Tennis Fast Midland – Play Tennis Fast 2

 

This program revisits the basics, add specialty shots, learn, and practice doubles play.
