Draft Master Plan - 2012
Background: In keeping with State requirements to
update the city's Master Plan every five years, the City of Midland Planning Commission spent eight
months in 2012 reviewing and making updates to the document that was last approved in
2007.
At its October 15, 2012 meeting, Midland City Council approved
distributing the proposed plan to neighboring communities, citizens, and other
groups for review. A 43-day public comment period began on October 15, and
public input sessions are set for January 8, 2013. Based on input, the
commission will make final revisions and send another draft to City Council for its consideration.
Once approved, the plan will be used as a comprehensive, long-range guide for managing growth, development, and redevelopment in the Midland community.
Public Input Sessions: Voice your views on the proposed updated documents at two public input sessions set for Tuesday, January 8 at Midland City Hall. Sessions are scheduled for 2 - 4 p.m. and 6 - 7 p.m. Feedback will be provided to the Planning Commission that evening, at its 7 p.m. meeting.
This meeting will also serve as the public hearing on the proposed plan. After
this meeting, the plan will go to City Council for its review, then return to
the Planning Commission for final adoption.
