issues for the community including allocation of Community
Development Block Grant Funding to assist in code-compliance
issues, construction of affordable housing options and operation
of two senior living communities - Washington Woods and
Riverside Place.

Planning & Community Development
These departments make up the Planning & Community
Development Department:

Planning Department: The department establishes
community development objectives; provides technical assistance; researches and monitors growth
and development within the city; prepares development plans
and programs; reviews and reports on development proposals and
coordinates development activities affecting city growth;
and administers the city's Federal
Flood Insurance and Community Development Block Grant programs.
Building Department:
This department safeguards health, property and the
public welfare by regulating and controlling the design,
construction, quality of materials, use and occupancy, location,
and maintenance of all properties, buildings and structures
defined by the
City's Code of Ordinances. The department is responsible for enforcing State construction
codes, and administers building permits.
