I would like to welcome you to the Midland Police Department’s website and to introduce myself. My name is Gerald Ladwig and I am the Chief of Police for the City
of Midland.
I am a Jackson, Michigan native who, prior to coming to Midland, worked for one year with the Jackson Police Department. Since coming to Midland in 1988, I have had the opportunity to serve as a
patrol officer, neighborhood police officer, patrol sergeant,
patrol lieutenant, detective lieutenant and now as chief.
The first contact with members of our department should be a positive experience, and hopefully this web page will provide you with first-hand information as to the services we provide.
Our ultimate goal is to constantly keep this site updated with the latest information that may be of interest to you. We want you to visit the site often.
As such, please feel free to contact us with your concerns, interests, and suggestions.
The Midland Police Department is one of the finest law enforcement agencies in the
state of Michigan, and I’m proud to lead the men and women
who make this department extraordinary. I want to thank them for their tireless efforts as well as their unwavering commitment to keep our
community safe. I’m reminded, on a daily basis, of the excellent work done by our members
who go above and beyond the call of duty on behalf of the residents and visitors to our
city.
Ultimately, our success depends on the partnership between the community and the police
department. Years of hard work have resulted in establishing
a solid working relationship and productive, cooperative
efforts to protect our citizens - from our children to our seniors
- and build strong neighborhoods. The Midland Police Department remains committed to strengthening the crucial bonds of respect and support with the citizens we have sworn to protect. All of our efforts are aimed at making Midland a better and safer place for those who live, work, and visit our
city.
Sincerely,

Chief Gerald Ladwig
