Household Hazardous and Electronic Waste Collection

Household Hazardous Waste Collection: Some household hazardous waste can lead to contamination of groundwater, well water, or other water sources when spilled onto the ground, poured down the drain, or placed in trash containers. To prevent this, the Midland County Health Department sponsors the Household Hazardous Waste Collection Program, which provides an opportunity to safely and properly dispose of most hazardous waste you may have in your home including automotive, cleaning, and paint and garden products.

The Hazardous Waste Collection Program is offered at various times throughout the year at no charge to residents (2010 dates below). In order to drop off household hazardous materials at the Sanitary Landfill, an appointment must first be made through the Midland County Health Department by calling 989-832-6681.

  • Tuesday, June 15, 2010

  • Tuesday, August 10, 2010

Electronic Waste Disposal:  The City's Sanitary Landfill also accepts electronic waste containing mercury - such as computers, computer monitors, cell phones, old thermometers, etc. - on certain dates each year. In order to drop off e-waste at the Landfill, an appointment must first be made through the Midland County Health Department by calling 989-832-6681.
