Household Hazardous and Electronic Waste Collection
Household Hazardous Waste Collection: Some household hazardous waste can lead to contamination of groundwater,
well water, or other water sources when spilled onto the ground, poured down the drain, or placed in trash containers. To prevent this, the Midland County Health
Department sponsors the Household Hazardous Waste Collection Program, which provides an opportunity to safely and properly dispose of most hazardous
waste you may have in your home including automotive, cleaning, and paint and
garden products.
The Hazardous Waste Collection Program is offered at various times throughout
the year at no charge
to residents (2010 dates below). In order to drop off household hazardous
materials at the Sanitary Landfill, an appointment must first be made through the Midland County Health Department by calling 989-832-6681.

Electronic Waste Disposal: The City's Sanitary Landfill also
accepts electronic waste containing mercury - such as computers, computer monitors, cell
phones, old thermometers, etc. - on certain dates each year. In order to drop off e-waste at
the Landfill, an appointment must first be made through the Midland County Health Department
by calling 989-832-6681.

Curbside Collection of Recyclables
Recycling is collected
curbside once each month, Monday through Friday, for all city of Midland residents.

The Midland Volunteers for Recycling
Center at the landfill entrance is a non-profit organization dedicated to
recycling as many materials as possible. MVFR will accept the following
items at the recycling center:
