If you want to browse an alphabetical list of results use the "Author/Title Search" option on the aqua bar at the top of the page.


Title Keyword Search:


  • Type your search words in the Title Keyword box. Use quotation marks to search for the exact phrase. For example: "Gone with the Wind"


  • Click on GO or press the enter key.


  • The catalog will display the record or a results list of titles, oldest first. If the results have more than 10 items, at the bottom of the page, click next to go to the next screen of titles. Too many results? Try sorting and limiting your search.

  • Click on the title of the item you want. (Note: The red asterisk*means that The Grace A. Dow Memorial Library owns a copy.)


  • The catalog will display the detailed record.

  • Look for Copy/Holding Information. This will tell you where to find the item in the library. What it means.


  • Is your item checked out? Learn how to place a hold.


    Author Search:


    Use this search when you know the author's name. An "author" can be anyone associated with a work, such as musician, composer, producer, actor, illustrator, etc.

    This is a "browse" search-it will give an alphabetical list of authors.

     

  • Click on the "Author/Title Search" option on the aqua Bar at the top of the page and look for the option named "Author."

  • Type your author's name in the "Author" box. Type the last name first.  For example: "Grisham, John" 

  • Click on the green "GO" or press the enter key.

  • Click on the author's name. The column to the right is the number of records listed in the catalog under the author's name.


  • The catalog will display the record or a results list of titles, oldest first. If the results have more than 10 items, at the bottom of the page, click next to go to the next screen of titles. Too many results? Try sorting and limiting your search.

  • Type your search words in the Subject Keyword box. 


  • Click on GO or press the enter key.

    (If you are not finding results for your search, try a General Keyword search).

    General Keyword Search:


    General keyword is a very powerful search. This search will look for search words in most areas of the record, even the description of the item. You can combine title and author together to narrow your results or type in less words to bring more results. You can use this search to look for song titles within an album.

  • Type your search words in the General Keyword box. Use quotation marks to search for the exact phrase. Example: "Gone with the Wind"
