ACCELERATED READER LISTS

Copies of Accelerated Reader lists for Midland County schools are available at the Youth Services Desk.  The following schools have posted their lists online.  If you would like us to link to your school's list, email askthelibrarian@midland-mi.org.  Please use "Youth Services Accelerated Reader" in the subject line.

ASSIGNMENT ALERT
Planning to send students to the library for a special assignment?  An Assignment Alert will help us plan ahead to make the best use of  library resources.  At least one week's notice is greatly appreciated.
Online form.  Printable form.

BIG BOOKS
Same story, same number of pages, but most measure 14" by 18" or larger. Big Books check out for two weeks to anyone reading to groups of children.  Please see the librarian in Youth Services before taking Big Books to checkout.

BOOKLISTS:  OUR LISTS OF RECOMMENDED BOOKS
Grace A. Dow Memorial librarians have created lists of recommended book titles available at the library. The lists were developed for children, parents, and teachers to get ideas for books to read on many topics or by reading levels.

BOOKS WITH MULTIPLE COPIES
Are you interested in checking out multiple copies of the same title for a group to use? Before planning your next literature circle or group book discussion, take a look at the quality children's literature we have in multiple (10-15, 16-20, and 21 or more) copies.

CORPORATE CARDS
Many area schools have a corporate account at the Grace A. Dow Memorial Library.  See your school administrator for more information about your school's card and related policies.

FILL IT UP!
The library now provides easy-to-carry book baskets for your selections.  Check one out - along with your books - and you will have an easy-to-find container to store library materials at home or at school.  Baskets may be renewed up to five times.

LIBRARY VISITS
Library tours are available to schools in our service area as well as to other groups in the community. Please call the Youth Services desk (837-3466) or return the printable form at least two weeks in advance to schedule your visit.

ONLINE DATABASES
Please encourage your students to use our databases!  We subscribe to a variety of educational databases that are available for use in the library or from home with a library card.  We also periodically offer computer classes to parents and students in database instruction.  Library barcode numbers are necessary to access the databases when outside of the library.

PRACTICE TESTS
Did you know your students can take online practice ACT, SAT and AP tests?  The library provides free access to practice tests through Learning Express Library.  Immediate scoring, complete answer explanations and an individualized analysis of results are featured.

MAGAZINES
Supplement your curriculum with fantastic ideas from our parent and professional magazines!  Back issues of The MailboxBookbag, Book Links, Library Sparks, Library Media Connection, Science and Children, Family Fun, Practical Hoemschooling, Home School Digest, Homeschooling Today and Storytelling Magazine circulate for 14 days.
