The following titles are found in the J Fiction area.

 

Brink                CADDIE WOODLAWN (1935) The adventures of an eleven-year-old tomboy growing up on the Wisconsin frontier in the mid-nineteenth century.

 

Britton              THE TREEKEEPERS (2003) While searching for her father, Bird joins three other children in a quest to overthrow the evil Lord Rendarren. 

 

Burnett             A LITTLE PRINCESS (1987) Sara Crewe, a boarding student at Miss Minchin’s London School, is left in poverty when her father dies.

Gilson               THIRTEEN WAYS TO SINK A SUB (1982)  A class plans a contest to see who is the first to make their substitute teacher cry.

 

Haddix             RUNNING OUT OF TIME (1995)  It is up to Jessie to save the village from a diphtheria epidemic when she discovers that her 1840 village is actually a 1995 tourist observation site.

 

Hesse               OUT OF THE DUST (1997)  Billie Jo poetically relates the hardships of life on her family’s Oklahoma wheat farm during the Depression.

L’Engle            MEET THE AUSTINS (1960) The Austin children have nothing in common with Maggie, an orphan their family takes in.

 

Levine              ELLA ENCHANTED (1997)  A retelling of Cinderella in which Ella must obey every command given to her.
