Grace A. Dow Memorial Library Youth Services Internet Procedures |
Grace A. Dow Memorial Library provides access to the Internet on computers located in the Youth Services area of the Library.
The public access Internet computers use Internet Explorer Communicator World Wide Web browser. They are open to patrons of all ages.
These computers have the blocking software on them. While this software will prevent access to many sites considered inappropriate for children, it is technically impossible to prevent access to all objectionable resources.
We strongly encourage parents to monitor the use of these computers by their children.
Access to the computers is free of charge.
Librarians will assist you with instructional materials regarding the Explorer browser and the Internet, will give you a brief orientation on your first visit, and will answer questions as they arise.
The Internet computers in the Youth Services area are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. The Youth Services Desk does not take Internet reservations. Usage of all Internet computers in the library is limited to one hour per person per day. Note that this one hour time limit is applied to users, not to computers.
You may print your research on the attached printer. You may print up to 5 pages per day free of charge. The fee for printing additional pages is 10 cents per page. There is a box at the Check Out Desk to pay for additional printouts.
Please close all windows and exit Explorer at the end of your session. Please remember that the library closes at 9 p.m. weeknights and 5 p.m. weekends. You are expected to leave at closing.
You must adhere to the Grace A. Dow Memorial Library Acceptable Use Policy. For a copy of the policy, ask at the Youth Services Desk.
