GRACE A. DOW MEMORIAL LIBRARY HOSTS

“THE MANY REALMS OF KING ARTHUR”
EXHIBITION

Was there a real King Arthur?  The legendary monarch was first heard of in stories told fifteen hundred years ago.  Today we are still fascinated by the saga of Arthur, Guinevere, Lancelot and the knight and ladies of the Round Table.

Discover the history and the romance of the enduring legend of Camelot at an exhibit on view at the Grace A. Dow Memorial Library beginning January 7 through January 29, 2001, during library open hours.  The Opening Reception will be held Sunday, January 7 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. on the Library Mezzanine.  Refreshments will be served.  There is no charge to see this beautiful and colorful display.

The traveling exhibit, “The Many Realms of King Arthur” explores the Arthurian legend from their origins in the folktales, romances and troubadours’ songs of the Middle Ages to their latest adaptations in 20th century novels, films and even video games.

“We are pleased to host this exhibit because of its appeal to all ages and the enduring popularity of the King Arthur legend,” said Library Director Melissa Barnard.

The exhibition was organized by the American Library Association and the Newberry Library, Chicago, with funding from the National Endowment for the Humanities.
