SECOND FIREWOOD SALE SCHEDULED
MIDLAND COUNTY RESIDENTS INVITED TO PARTICIPATE

A second City firewood sale has been scheduled for Thursday, November 1 and Friday, November 2 and Midland County residents, as well as City of Midland residents, are invited to participate.

City and county residents interested in obtaining firewood must first purchase a permit from the Parks and Recreation Department located in the Municipal Service Center, 4811 N. Saginaw Road. Firewood permits cost $5 per load for pick-ups, station wagons and suburbans and $5 per axle for trailers.  Permits will be limited to two per household.  A maximum of 75 permits will be sold.

To collect the firewood, permits are taken to the City’s Sturgeon Nursery site located on Airport Road approximately 1/4 mile west of Sturgeon Avenue.  Firewood will be available between 8 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. on November 1 and 2.  The person signing the permit at the time of purchase must be present when picking up the wood.  Permit holders will need to bring a chainsaw to cut the wood into manageable lengths.

The firewood being sold has been collected from tree trimming and cleanup of fallen trees on City property and in City parks.

For additional information call Parks and Recreation at 835-9071.  The Parks and Recreation office is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
