THE DOW CHEMICAL COMPANY CLOSES ABBOTT ROAD

 

Abbott Rd., between E. Patrick Rd. and Eastlawn Dr., will be closed beginning 9 p.m., Friday Aug. 31.  The roadway will reopen at 9 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 1.

 

Abbott Road is a private roadway owned by Dow. The periodic closure of the road is legally necessary to maintain its private road status.  The Dow Center will remain open and employees needing to access the facility may do so from the west entrance.

 

 

EASTMAN AVE. OPEN BUT RESTRICTED
 
ST. ANDREWS TO BUTTLES

 

Eastman Ave. will be open but restricted to one lane in each direction from St. Andrews to Buttles St. beginning Friday, Aug. 31. The lane restrictions will be in place through the week of Sept. 24. 

 

Left-hand turns will be prohibited in this work zone.

 

Motorists are encouraged to find alternate routes to avoid delays.

 

INTERSECTION OF ST. ANDREWS AND SAGINAW RD.
TO CLOSE

 

The intersection of St. Andrews and Saginaw Rd. will close for force main installation beginning Tuesday, September 4.  The intersection is expected to reopen on Friday, Sept. 7.

 

Westbound St. Andrews motorists will be detoured north on Jefferson, west on Sugnet and south on Saginaw Rd. back to St. Andrews.

 

Eastbound St. Andrews motorists will be detoured north on Saginaw Rd., east on Sugnet Rd. and south on Jefferson Ave. back to St. Andrews.

 

Detours will be posted and are also available on the City of Midland website, www. midland-mi.org under the heading Construction. 

 

Motorists are encouraged to find alternate routes to avoid delays.

 

FOUR WEEK DETOUR PLANNED FOR

EASTMAN AVE. AT US-10 INTERCHANGE

 

As work progresses on the US-10 Interchange improvements at Eastman Ave., the Michigan Department of Transportation has scheduled a four-week closure of the roadway beginning Monday, Sept. 24 in order to accommodate the widening of Eastman Ave. at the US-10 overpass.

 

Eastman Ave. will be closed from Wackerly Rd. to just north of the US-10 overpass from Sept. 24 through Oct. 19.

 

MDOT has begun some of the roadwork that was originally scheduled to begin in Spring 2002.

 

For the duration of the closure traffic will be detoured as follows:

 

 

Northbound Eastman Ave. traffic south of US-10 with destinations north of US-10

This traffic will be routed east on W. Wackerly Rd. to Jefferson Ave.  Then north on Jefferson Ave. to Joe Mann Boulevard.  Then west on Joe Mann Boulevard to Eastman Ave.

 

Southbound Eastman Ave. traffic north of US-10 with destinations south of US-10

This traffic will be routed west on Airport Rd. to Sturgeon Ave.  Then south on Sturgeon Ave. to W. Wackerly Rd.  Then east on W. Wackerly Rd. to Eastman Ave.

 

Northbound Eastman Ave. traffic south of US-10 with destinations east on US-10

This traffic will be routed to the new eastbound US-10 entrance on W. Wackerly Rd. 

 

Northbound Eastman Ave. traffic south of US-10 with destinations west on US-10

This traffic will be routed east on W. Wackerly Rd. to Jefferson Ave.  Then north on Jefferson Ave. to Joe Mann Boulevard.  Then west on Joe Mann Boulevard to Eastman Ave.  Then south on Eastman Ave. to the westbound US-10 entrance ramp south of Airport Rd.

 

Depending upon the origination point, motorists should also consider the Waldo Rd./US-10 westbound entrance ramp or the Stark Rd./US-10 westbound entrance ramp.

 

Southbound Eastman Ave. traffic north of US-10 with destinations east on US-10

This traffic will be routed west on Airport Rd. to Sturgeon Ave.  Then south on Sturgeon Ave. to the new eastbound US-10 entrance on W. Wackerly Rd.

 

Southbound Eastman Ave. traffic north of US-10 with destinations west on US-10

This traffic will be allowed to use the existing westbound entrance ramp located south of Airport Rd.

 

Depending upon the origination point, motorists should also consider the Waldo Rd./US-10 westbound entrance ramp or the Stark Rd./US-10 westbound entrance ramp.

-  E. Ashman St. from Cambridge to Saginaw Rd. expected to open (9/7)

-  Saginaw Rd. sanitary sewer force main installation project complete.  Saginaw Rd. open to five lanes from James Savage to Sugnet. Final paving to begin soon.

-  Eastman Ave. expected to close for street widening and reconstruction from Wackerly Rd. to just north of the US-10 overpass (9/24 – 10/19)

-  Eastbound E. Ashman, Swede Ave. to Waldo Ave., expected to open (9/21).
