As assistant library director, McKane will manage the Youth and Adult Services Departments; coordinate adult and youth programming, community communications and staff development; and will assume the duties and responsibilities for the operation of the library in the absence of the Library Director.

“We were all impressed with Virginia’s approachability, professionalism, management background and experience in children’s services,” said Grace A. Dow Memorial Library Director Melissa Barnard.  “She’ll be a great asset to our team.”

A team of library and city employees conducted interviews and recommended McKane from a pool of 11 candidates who applied for the position.
