NEW PARKING RATES - NEW METERS
IN DOWNTOWN
MIDLAND

Metered parking in downtown Midland will increase from $.10 to $.20 per hour beginning Monday, July 2 and motorists using downtown parking meters may notice something new.

New meter mechanisms have been installed in conjunction with new parking rate fees.  The old dial meters have been replaced with new light emitting diode (LED) readouts that automatically record the parking time purchased and counts down the time left on the meter.  The new meters can be programmed locally, eliminating the former practice of removing the meters and sending them away for programming each time a change was made in the parking rates.

The new parking rate increase was approved by City Council at its meeting of April 9, 2001.  The parking violations clerk enforces downtown parking Monday through Friday.
