SUMMER
STREET CONSTRUCTION
A few construction projects have already graced Midland
streets, but the month of July will bring four new projects to Midland
roadways.
Beginning Monday, July 1, water main and culvert replacement
and street reconstruction will begin on Perrine Rd.
from Saginaw Rd. to Moorland
Dr. and on Moorland Dr.
from Perrine Rd. to Leeway
Dr. During
construction the roadway will be closed to through traffic. This project is expected to wrap up by the
middle of September.
Three projects begin on Monday, July 8:
The Michigan Department of Transportation will begin work on
the Jefferson Overpass. This work will
include widening the bridge to three lanes and construction of a pedestrian
walkway. The bridge will be closed to
all traffic and detours around the area will be posted. This work is expected to be completed by
early September.
Street reconstruction, including curb replacement, will
begin on Jefferson Ave.
from Wheeler St. to Wackerly St. The roadway will be open to local traffic
only and traffic will only be allowed to cross Jefferson
at Chapel Ln. This work is expected to be completed by
early September.
And, the Mark Putnam (Poseyville Rd.) Bridge will receive bridge deck and structural
repairs. Traffic will be reduced to one
lane in each direction and will be re-routed to one bridge span and then the
next as construction progresses.
Construction on this project is expected to last through November.
Finally, beginning in early August, S.
Saginaw Rd. will be reconstructed from Salzburg
to about one mile south. The roadway
will be closed for the duration of reconstruction and traffic will be
detoured. This project is expected to be
completed by mid-September.
