CITIZENS INVITED TO PARTICIPATE IN
SAFE COMMUNITIES PROJECT

The Midland Police Department in conjunction with Midland Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and MidMichigan Medical Center will host a Safe Communities meeting at the Midland Law Enforcement Center, 2727 Rodd St., on Tuesday, Aug. 6 from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m.

Laurie Bullock from the Michigan Office of Highway Safety Planning (MOHSP) will discuss the Michigan Safe Communities program and the possibility of establishing a Safe Community Coalition in Midland.

Michigan Safe Communities is a program that invites local community leaders, organizations and citizens to work with OHSP to prevent traffic crashes, violence and substance abuse in their communities.  A local coalition is formed to help administer a problem identification process and then implement an injury prevention program based on the results.

The Safe Communities program is a proven and effective way for citizens to get involved in solving vehicle injury concerns in their community.
