PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION

CONDUCTING USER SURVEY AND HOLDING COMMUNITY OPEN HOUSE

One thousand randomly-selected households have received a mailed survey asking for feedback on the city’s park system and recreational opportunities.  The survey will help provide citizen input as the Parks and Recreation Commission prepares to update the City of Midland Parks Master Plan.  The survey is being administered through Spicer Engineering.

Households receiving the survey are encouraged to complete the questionnaire and return it in the stamped-addressed envelope provided.

All citizens are invited to participate in a community open house scheduled for Wednesday, November 5, from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. in City Hall Council Chambers, 333 W. Ellsworth St.  The event is open to the public and citizens are encouraged to drop by at any point during the open house to talk about the city’s park system and recreational opportunities in Midland.

The Parks Master Plan is updated every five years and helps the City of Midland in planning its long and short-term parks goals.  The plan also makes the City of Midland eligible for grants administered through the Department of Natural Resources.

Results of the survey and open house will be shared at a future public meeting.  Recommendation and adoption of the Parks Master Plan will occur during the upcoming year with additional opportunities for citizen review and comment.
