The Midland Police Department will host its fifth Citizens Police Academy (CPA) beginning September 10. This 10-week program offers residents and businesses a first hand look into the law enforcement operations of the Midland Police Department. Participants meet each Wednesday from 7 until 9 p.m. at the Law Enforcement Center. There is no charge for the program, however application and acceptance to the program are required.
The CPA is an interactive program covering a variety of police activities including criminal investigations, crime scene processing, patrolling, and legal procedures. Participants will go on patrol with a Midland officer, experience the fingerprinting process and even try out the firing range.
CPA participants must be residents of Midland County and at least 18 years of age. Administrative members of the Midland Police Department select participants. Class size is limited to 30 participants.
The application deadline is 5 p.m. on Friday, August 29. Applications can be obtained at the Midland Law Enforcement Center, 2727 Rodd St. or by calling 989-839-4703. Application forms may also be downloaded from the City of Midland website at www.midland-mi.org under the heading “What’s New.”
